So many memories are often tied up in our fabric scraps that it is often hard to part with them. While dresses need to be passed on and photos are great, there is something special about touching the fabric itself. Around age 6 little girls often have quite the attachment to their clothes, especially ones that were made with love by Nana or Mommy. Many a tear have been shed when a favorite outfit is outgrown. This is when a scrap quilt is greatly appreciated. I wish you could have seen her face when my granddaughter recognized fabric from her first day of school dress, Christmas dress and many others. She checked on my progress each week and was thrilled when she could take it home to become her favorite snuggle quilt.
I also love these quilts because there is no rhyme or reason to them. No pattern, large pieces of fabric and no color coordinating required. They are just fun and relaxing to put together.
