New Classic Sewing Magazine!
It’s time to think about Fall sewing and the latest issue of Classic Sewing Magazine has just arrived in my mailbox! Full of inspiration, beautiful outfits and great how to articles, this just might be my favorite issue yet.
My assignment for the magazine is always something for boys and I decided on a shirt and shorts outfit with a timeless look. When I say timeless, I mean something little boys would wear in the 1940s and in 2018. We tend to think of Christening gowns and dressier outfits for passing down to the next generation, but what about a simple little outfit like this one?
I achieved the look using pattern #148 along with charcoal grey chambray and navy twill fabric. To add interest to the shirt I added a simple overlay trimmed with hand stitching and decorative navy buttons. Detailed instructions for the overlay are included in the magazine.
How cute would this outfit be with white knee socks and a red sweater for cooler weather? Or use the same fabrics for long pants and a long sleeve shirt. Now my mind is thinking of all kinds of possibilities with these basic pieces……. ∼ Michie;
