This dress was my first smocking attempt. Thanks to your amazing instructions and pattern 146, I think I was rather successful. I made the dress for my 18 month old daughter in the 24 month size and shortened it to baby doll length on her to wear for family photos. I am in the process of making 2 more for her little friends in different fabrics and colors.

Because these little ones have arrived early and unexpectedly these gowns are labors of love to help comfort parents and show them how much their tiny ones are loved. I ran across this photo while going through files yesterday. One of my favorite photos of our boy at his 1st birthday party. He looks calm and peaceful, but right after I took the photo he decided his party needed entertainment, so he stood up and started really walking for the first time.
